Wednesday September 3, 2025 3:00pm - 3:50pm PDT
Anil Inamdar, NetApp Instaclustr, Global Head of Data Services

Platform engineering has become one of the hottest topics in software development, and with good reason. It bridges the gap between pie-in-the-sky claims about accelerating application development (and ROI), and the boots-on-the-ground reality of most software teams, which are often already stretched thin while being asked to support increasingly ambitious business goals. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to platform engineering, it’s becoming increasingly clear that open-source software and projects are absolutely vital to its success.

This CloudX session will dig into how open source can fuel platform engineering success, with discussion around:

- How open source gives you the means to start small. You can identify key gaps in your platform and developer experience and look for reliable open-source options to deliver those needs.

- How open source technologies can help you make adoption, testing, experimentation, and exploration easier for developers—a must for a successful platform approach.

- Specific advantages that open source can deliver to platform engineering, including portability, dev talent recruitment security, and pluggability.

PRO Session (CloudX): Productize Your DevOps (Or “What I Really Learned from Playing with Legos”)
Thursday September 4, 2025 2:00pm - 2:25pm PDT
Casey Morton, Pinnacle Solutions Group, Principal Consultant

In the early days of my career, a mentor once said to me "Everything is a product". He went on to say, "Its less about selling your software and more about creating well-defined (and documented), composable modules or Lego bricks..." This is a lesson that I keep close to my heart over 20 years later. In this session, we'll talk about how this mantra can apply to nearly everyone in IT and then we'll look at it, specifically as it applies to DevOps. What does it mean to "productize" something? Why does it matter? Why should I design for reuse even if I probably never will?We will talk through a couple of examples to better illustrate how to apply this to your daily work. Maybe its your CI/CD pipeline. Maybe its Terraform or Bicep scripts. Maybe its Helm Charts. Let's take a look at these very different scenarios and see how Productized DevOps can make your life easier and help make you more successful.

OPEN Session (CloudX): Hack the Cloud: Attackers Love Blind Spots, Break Their Hearts
Thursday September 4, 2025 3:30pm - 3:55pm PDT
Brian Contos, Mitiga, Field CISO

Malicious actors, on an unholy crusade, have discovered that a lack of visibility across Cloud, SaaS, and Identity, combined with legacy controls that provide limited cloud detection and response capabilities, grants them a nefarious advantage. This lack of visibility, detection, and response in cloud environments allows malicious actors to operate with an elevated ability to breach organizations, evade detection, and maintain persistence.

As businesses transition to the cloud, critical assets, sensitive data, and an increasing array of interconnected SaaS applications have followed. This shift attracts malicious actors eager to exploit any visibility gaps, such as those caused by the segmentation of environments across workloads and SaaS. While such segmentation is a beneficial security best practice for incident prevention, it also provides a stealthy refuge for attackers. In essence, your SecOps team is operating within a landscape fraught with invisible threats.

This presentation will explore real-life stories from the trenches, drawn from years of cloud-based incident response. Various hacks will be explored to illustrate how breaches occur, what happens following a breach, and why organizations are struggling to detect and respond.

Finally, we will cover mitigation strategies such as proactively preparing for a breach, discovering malicious activity, and responding. Malicious actors are counting on your passivity, your blind spots, and your inability to effectively detect and respond to attacks in the cloud. Break their hearts!

Thursday September 11, 2025 2:00pm - 2:25pm PDT

[Virtual] OPEN Session (CloudX): Hack The Cloud: Attackers Love Blind Spots, Break Their Hearts
Thursday September 11, 2025 3:30pm - 3:55pm PDT

[Virtual] OPEN Session (CloudX): A Design Delivery System For AI and Overcoming Tech Debt
Friday September 12, 2025 10:30am - 10:55am PDT
Megha Sandesh, Solvedex, CEO

Most AI projects don’t fail because of bad ideas—they fail because of bad systems. Teams rush to deploy models without a clear design framework, leading to disjointed interfaces, brittle integrations, and mounting technical debt that becomes impossible to untangle. The result? AI that never reaches its full potential, burdened by rework, inconsistency, and scalability nightmares.

My session breaks down a pragmatic, battle-tested approach to AI design and delivery—one that isn’t just about getting a model into production but ensuring it thrives there. We’ll dig into how design, engineering, and operations must work in sync from day one to prevent the common pitfalls that derail AI initiatives.

Key takeaways include:

1. Why AI projects accumulate debt faster than traditional software—and how to stop it at the source.
2. The role of system design in AI, and why model accuracy alone won’t save a broken pipeline.
3. A real-world approach to designing AI that scales without accumulating chaos.
